About Elderly Apple
Elderly Apple is not a normal webcomic. There is no reliance on characters, plot, or even punchlines. Some would argue that it’s hardly a webcomic at all.
What Elderly Apple is, though, is an exploration. An exploration of the creative mind, or imagination, of what one simple person can come up with by reaching through the recesses of their mind. It is a chance for the creators – and the readers – to think outside the proverbial box. Every strip – or idea, or vignette, or whatever you want to call them – is a world unto itself. It is meant to inspire the imagination of the reader. Each reader can create their own stories for the little picture they see. In the end, the hope is that all who visit Elderly Apple will be inspired to think of their own ideas.
The art style is chosen specifically for this purpose. The marker/colored pencil combination is a throwback to the days of childhood, before the days of the newfangled computers and Wacom tablets, when the imaginative spirit was alive and well. Back in the day of childhood’s imagination, a refrigerator, sitting so sedentary and humming so softly, could be seen as some meditating being. The same is true here.
Elderly Apple is not always funny. It is sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical, sometimes sad. If you laugh, it’s just a welcome side-effect. The real point is to make you think. After all, Elderly Apple is not a normal webcomic.
